Annual BookSale

On the second weekend of June every year the Library’s Booksale Committee has its annual Booksale. All the proceeds of the sale are turned over to the Library to purchase children’s books.

Books, videos and some miscellaneous material come in all year. Thousands of items are donated and include “read once gently” new books, rare books, kids’ books, paperback & hardcover books, picture books and tiny-text serious books. Our community is excellent at recycling its books. They buy from the sale and donate to the next sale. Books, movies and CDs the Library removes from the shelves to make room for new are added to the public donations all adding up to a grand sale.

The stacks, boxes and bags of books are sorted by the Booksale Committee, led by the Booksale Committee Chair, hardworking organizer Gail Reisterer, every week through the year.

The Booksale is on for 2 full days, Friday and Saturday from 10-5, and is concluded Monday morning from 10-Noon when what is left is sold for $1 a bag.

This event is held simultaneously with the Old Car Festival in Vicksburg which adds to the anticipation and excitement.

If your want to donate books to the Library or the Booksale, bring them to the lobby and have the person at the front desk open the door so they can be put on the cart. A dolly is available if you need help. The Booksale does not take damaged books or text books or encyclopedias more than a couple of years old. If you want a receipt, we will give you one noting the number and type of books – e.g. 20 paperback books.

The 2008 Booksale is June 13 & 14. Come get some cheap thrills and support the Children’s Library!
