Memorials

Each year many of the Library’s friends pass on and their family and friends donate to the Library in their memory. With these funds the Library purchases either books, other material or furnishings and memorializes the person with a bookplate or plaque or something suitable. If you would like to donate in someone’s memory, make the check out to Vicksburg District Library and let us know the name of the person in whose memory you are giving and the address of a member of the family we can write to tell you have given. Funeral homes usually have memorial envelopes and will get them to the Library.

Some of our friends remember the Library in their trust or will. We welcome these gifts and will find a suitable use for them. If you would like assistance in this process at any level, please call the Director.

Book Donations

The Library accepts donations of books or magazines. Donated books are either added to the Library’s collection or put into our annual book sale using the guidelines of our selection policies. The Booksale Committee accepts books throughout the year for the June sale. We do not accept books that are musty or moldy, stained, have writing on the pages, have missing covers or pages, college textbooks, Reader’s Digest Condensed Books or encyclopedias more than 3 years old.

Magazine Donations

The Library accepts donations of magazines of general interest to which the Library does not subscribe such as travel, food, gardening, physical fitness, women’s magazines, parenting, entertainment or literary magazines that are less than 1 year old. We will take older craft magazines that are in good condition.

We do not take donations of magazines that are more than 1 year old, that are specialized such as military, service club magazines, religious magazines, about specific diseases or any catalogs, Please do not leave any bags of magazines on our doorstep.

Volunteering at the Library

The Library welcomes volunteers of all skills. We have a Volunteer Form that we use to review your talents and time available and see what our best fit is. Please come in and fill it out.
