Happy Monday! Are you already planning to call in for next Monday, the famed day after the Super Bowl? Whether you are a big fan of the game, the half-time show, the commercials, or (like me) the food, hopefully the week goes by smoothly for you so we can all get into the game! With that, let’s see what’s up at the Vicksburg District Library this coming week…

This Week

The first session of Writer’s Roundtable for 2020 will be taking place this Wednesday, January 29th at 1:00pm. This month’s prompt is as follows: “Find an advertisement that uses people. Imagine their story and write it in any format – fiction, poetry, or any way that suits the narrative.” We hope you will join us for this fun session!

Can’t make it to Tai Chi with Ed Kehoe on Thursday mornings? There is a free practice session on Tuesday evening, January 28th at 7:00pm. Come have an easy stretch and move with friends for the new year while you learn about this centering martial art.

Check This Out!

After a few weeks, the complete list of Best Rated Books of 2019 has been revealed. Who came out on top? The beautifully done graphic novel They Called Us Enemy! Written by legendary icon George Takei, the novel tells the story of how he and his family lived and survived during World War II in the Japanese internment camps. Assisted by writers Justin Eisinger, Steven Scott, and illustrator Harmony Becker, this book just won the APALA 2020 Young Adult Literature Award!
