BOOK CLUB FOR ADULTS

The Vicksburg District Library’s Book Club for Adults meets on the first Thursday of the month from 9:30 – 10:30am. Our December meeting will be on December 4. Coffee, tea, and breakfast treats are provided. Newcomers are always welcome. For our December meeting, we will read and discuss “Horse” by Geraldine Brooks. Book Club for Adults is for adults 18+ only.

SCRABBLE CLUB

Play the board game Scrabble with other adults at the library. Scrabble Club meets on Tuesdays, December 9 (2025), January 13 (2026), February 10 (2026) from 1:00-2:30pm.

Poetry circle - Share your poetry in a small group. Adults only. Sept. 26, Oct. 24, Nov. 21, 12-1pm

POETRY CIRCLE

In Poetry Circle, we will share our poetry in a small group, write from prompts or our own inspiration, and learn about different aspects of poetry. This program is for adults only. Poetry Circle takes place on Fridays, September 26, October 24, and November 21, from 12pm-1:00pm. Bring a notebook, a pen or pencil, and any poetry you’d like to share — yours or your favorite by another writer.

Book boxes for adults - Signups are now closed. Book Boxes are personalized readers’ advisory in a box with treats. Registration limited to 5 boxes per month.

BOOK BOXES FOR ADULTS

Book Boxes contain books based on personalized recommendations from criteria that you specify, all inside a box with treats: salty, sweet, and a little surprise. Registration is limited to 5 boxes per month. Registration for Book Boxes is now closed but will reopen on December 1.

How Book Boxes work: Book Boxes are for adults 18+ only. You tell us your reading preferences – what you’re looking for and what you’re not looking for – and you’ll get a box with three surprise library books and some treats. The books and boxes are checked out like any other library book and returned on their due date.

WRITERS’ MOTIVATIONAL GROUP

A writers’ group where members discuss and practice writing, encourage one another, report progress, and respond to short writing prompts. This program is for adults only. We meet from 4:00-5:00pm on Thursdays, December 11 (2025), January 8 (2026), & February 12 (2026).

BAD ART NIGHT


Enjoy the freedom of creating deliberately bad art. Vote on the best worst art. This program is for adults 18+ only. All supplies are provided. Bring your creativity and leave your inner critic at home! Bad Art Night is Wednesday, February 18, 2026, from 5:30-7:00pm.

COOKIE SWAP

Bring 2 dozen home-baked cookies of your choice. Everyone can sample cookies and bring some home. There will be hot drinks (coffee, tea, cocoa), water, and a non-sweet snack to eat between cookies. To ensure that everyone knows what they’re eating, please bring the full recipe. The library cannot be responsible for any undesirable reactions to another participant’s cookies. Cookie Swap takes place on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 6:00pm.
