POETRY CIRCLE
In Poetry Circle, we will share our poetry in a small group, write from prompts or our own inspiration, and learn about different aspects of poetry. This program is for adults only. Poetry Circle takes place on Fridays, September 26, October 24, and November 21, from 12pm-1:00pm. Bring a notebook, a pen or pencil, and any poetry you’d like to share — yours or your favorite by another writer.
SCRABBLE CLUB
Play the board game Scrabble with other adults at the library. Scrabble Club meets on Tuesdays, September 9, October 14, and November 11 from 1:00-2:30pm.
BAD ART NIGHT
Enjoy the freedom of creating deliberately bad art at this Bad Art Night event. We’ll have lots of materials for you to throw together however looks bad to you! There will be voting on the best worst art. Bad Art Night is October 8 from 5:30-6:30pm. This program is for adults only.
READ AQUIET BOOK CLUB
The VDL’s newest book club is for silent reading. Bring your own book, and we’ll read together in silent camaraderie. After an hour of silent reading, there will be 30 optional minutes of casual conversation about what we’re reading. Read Aquiet Book Club is on fourth Mondays, September 22, October 27, and November 24, from 10:30am-12:00 noon.
BOOK BOXES FOR ADULTS
Book Boxes contain books based on personalized recommendations from criteria that you specify, all inside a box with treats: salty, sweet, and a little surprise. Registration is limited to 5 boxes per month. Registration for October Book Boxes is now open. It will close on September 15. Register now!
How Book Boxes work: You tell us your reading preferences – what you’re looking for and what you’re not looking for – and you’ll get a box with three surprise library books and some treats. The books and boxes are checked out like any other library book and returned on their due date.
WRITERS’ MOTIVATIONAL GROUP
A writers’ group where members discuss and practice writing, encourage one another, report progress, and respond to short writing prompts. This program is for adults only. We meet from 4:00-5:00pm on Thursdays, September 11, October 9, & November 13. There is no meeting in August.
BOOK CLUB FOR ADULTS
The Vicksburg District Library’s Book Club for Adults meets on the first Thursday of the month from 9:30 – 10:30am. Our September meeting will be on September 4. Coffee, tea, and breakfast treats are provided. Newcomers are always welcome. For our September meeting, we will read and discuss “The Light Eaters” by Zoe Schlanger. Book Club for Adults is for adults 18+ only.
