Week 34

MeLCat and Interlibrary Loan services are back up and running! See details below.

Well, despite our best efforts to slow it, summer is quickly coming to an end. Labor Day is three short weeks away. We hope your summer is going well and if you are heading out on a last minute family vacation, be sure to stop in to stock up on books, CDs, audiobooks, or even DVDs if you are just relaxing for a while! It’s time to make the most of it before the coming autumn turns into the long, blustery Kalamazoo winter!

This Week

Adrianne the Librarian will be up on Facebook this afternoon with Books & Brews! First, we will have a fun non-alcoholic fruit punch that you can share with the kids for you last cookouts of the season (or even a fun holiday punch). Then we’ll be discussing books that are part of the anti-racism movement that take a look at Black history and culture. That’s tonight at 6:00pm.

MelCat and Interlibrary Loan are back! As of last Monday, August 10th, MeL opened up requesting once again. So if there is a book, audiobooks, or film that you are looking for that we do not own here at the Vicksburg District Library, be sure to check out MeL and place your request today. Be sure to check with us if you have any questions about this service.

Mrs. W is taking August off from Story Time, but don’t worry kiddos! She promises to be back next month with more Virtual Story Time so you can join in the fun with songs, rhymes, and lots of fun books! Be sure to stay tuned for details on that and news about the possible Virtual Party in the Park this year. Woohoo!

Check This Out!

To all our students, parents, teachers, administrators, and educators in the Vicksburg area, we understand right now you are making the decisions right for you and your family about how to educate your children this fall in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Whether you decide to opt for in-person, online, hybrid, or homeschooling, we at the Vicksburg District Library want to let you know that we are here to offer our support as a public institution. While we are not affiliated with Vicksburg Community Schools in any way, our resources are free of use while you work on your education, whether you are asking clerks to order books for you through MeL and Interlibrary Loan, asking Mrs. W what books are perfect to up a student’s reading skills, or receiving assistance from Adrianne the Librarian on how to navigate databases in order to find peer-reviewed articles. If you have any questions or concerns about our services at this time, please give us a call at (269) 649-1648 or email us at info@vicksburglibrary.org. We wish you all the best in safety and health during this time.
