Ways to Help

Want to help the library be better for you and everyone in the Vicksburg area? There are a few different ways you can help us!

Recommend Materials to Purchase

One of the ways we decide what to buy for our collections is by your personal suggestions. These materials range from books to video games. Have a suggestion for us? You can do one of two things. First, you can come to the library and fill out a Material Request form at the Circulation Desk. Can’t make it it the library in person? Then email us your request with the following information…

  • title of the item
  • author of the item
  • item type (book, DVD, CD, audio book, video game, etc.)
  • subject matter of the item
  • your name and phone number

We are always accepting applications for volunteers at the library. Volunteers help us sort and shelve books, work events, and keep us functioning on a day to day basis. Volunteering at the library is a great first position for a high schooler or a fantastic way for a senior to stay active. To fill out an application, come to the Circulation Desk and speak to one of our clerks.

Material Donations

The Vicksburg District Library is always collecting donations for our annual book sale. Bring your donations to the Circulation Desk and we will take care of the rest. Sorry, but we are unable to pick up materials. There are a few guidelines for what can and cannot be donated:

We will happily take adult fiction and non-fiction books, children’s books, CDs and DVDs. However, we cannot take soiled, musty, or mildewed books, textbooks, encyclopedias, or magazines. If you have any questions, you are more than welcome to contact us and we’ll be happy to help!

Write an Item Review

As a new feature on the website, we are looking to post reviews of items from staff and patrons as part of our social media forum. In order to submit a review, head on over to the Patron Reviews page of our website, read over the rules, and get ready to submit. We’ll let you know if we choose what you wrote for our website and blog!
